What is a Pole Climbing Device?

The Pole Climbing Device (P.C.D.) is designed to make climbing poles easy and convenient. My intention is that it benefits everyone.

While climbing poles, the situation may vary from place to place, just as roads and conditions differ when driving a vehicle. Users should carefully consider their approach and use the device without taking unnecessary risks.

P.C.D. enhances your work capacity, enabling you to climb more poles and complete more tasks efficiently.

FAQ's

FAQs About Using the Pole Climbing Device (P.C.D.)

01.

Doesn't it slip while climbing poles?

No, it has a grip pipe installed, which provides a strong hold on the pole and prevents slipping.
02.

Is it durable? How much weight can it support?

Yes, it is strong and can support up to 200 kg of weight.

03.

How long does it last?

It lasts easily for 5 to 7 years. If the weight is up to 75 kg, it can last up to 7 years. For higher weights, it may last 5 to 6 years, depending on usage and load.

04.

On which types of poles can it be used?

It can be used on all PSC and RSJ poles used by Mahavitaran Company, as well as on old poles. It is adjustable but cannot be used on cylindrical poles.

05.

What is the weight of the device?

It weighs 3 kg.

06.

Is it shockproof?

No, it is not shockproof.

07.

If it's not shockproof, what is the benefit of using it?

The device is designed specifically for climbing poles, making it beneficial for accessing various types of poles safely. While it’s not shockproof, claiming that it is would imply the ability to work on live lines, which isn’t the case. When working on poles, we use both hands for tasks, and the pole contains three phases, neutral, and grounding, increasing the risk of electrical shock. Therefore, the device is not shockproof.

08.

What benefits can I get from using a P.C.D.?

Using a P.C.D. can offer several benefits:

  1. Reduces Physical Strain: When climbing poles, a significant portion of your energy is often depleted. After climbing, you may need to sit and work, but with the P.C.D., much of the physical effort is reduced.

  2. Minimizes Fatigue: Using the P.C.D. prevents excessive physical fatigue and hand strain, improving your ability to work efficiently.

  3. Ease of Use: It’s easy to use and carry, making it convenient for tasks, especially in agricultural settings. It doesn’t interfere with activities like driving, ensuring smooth operations even in farm environments.

  4. Durability: The device is strong and durable, ensuring long-term use and reliability.

9.

In some areas, do you have to remove the device from your feet and climb using your hands?

Yes, you need to remove the device from your feet and climb using your hands. For this, a pole holder spring is provided, which can be securely attached to the pole as instructed. Once attached, you can remove your feet and climb using your hands. The device will stay securely attached to the pole and will not slip. After completing your work, you can reattach it to your feet and release the spring to safely descend.

10.

How often should the grip pipe be replaced? What happens if it isn’t replaced?

The grip pipe should be replaced if it becomes damaged. If not replaced, there is a risk of it becoming loose or slipping, similar to how worn-out tires need immediate replacement.

Instructions:

पी. सी. डि.  वापरण्यासंबंधी सूचना

01.

Its not Shockproof :

P.C.M. is not shockproof. Do not use it for working on live electrical lines.

02.

Pole Size:

Adjust the P.C.M. based on the pole size.

03.

Do not attach it halfway.

The P.C.M. should be fully inserted into the pole. Do not insert it halfway, as this reduces its strength and increases the chances of bending.

04.

Weight

Place the first foot firmly and straight before applying weight, then lift the second foot.

05.

Balance

Do not let go of the pole with your hands, and ensure that the balance is maintained to prevent falling backward.

06.

Distance

Do not extend your legs too far while climbing; maintain a comfortable step of about one foot apart.

07.

Swing (Load Balance/Support):

Always use the swing while working. It makes the task easier and ensures safety.

08.

Care/Precaution:

Always take extra care while climbing on slanted poles, as the balance tends to shift. Do not climb from the side where the pole is bent, as there is a high risk of slipping.

09.

Slip (Risk of Falling)

Be cautious while working during the rainy season, as poles may become wet and slippery, increasing the risk of slipping.

10.

Key

After completing the work, tighten the P.C.M. key securely to ensure it doesn’t come loose.

11

Thread

Do not tighten the key forcibly; the threads are free. Forcing it may lead to damage.

12

Plastic Pipe

Replace the plastic pipe immediately if it gets damaged. Do not continue using the P.C.M. with a worn-out grip, as this reduces its effectiveness and increases the chances of slipping.

13.

Check before use

Check the P.C.M. periodically to ensure all welding is intact and in good condition. Ensure there is no rust formation. Keep it in regular use and inspect it periodically, just like checking the grip of the swing.
